Ka Muso Kai Calgary

About Us

Formerly known as the Calgary Iaido Club, Ka Muso Kai Calgary was established in 1996. We have sister dojos in Saskatoon, SK and Antigonish, NS.

We practice four types of weapons-based Japanese martial arts. Our primary art is Iaido, the art of cutting from the scabbard. It is a companion art to Kendo. We practice the All Japan Kendo Federations' Standard Forms and the older more traditional style of Iaido known as Muso -Shinden. We also practice Jodo, the art of the Japanese short staff, Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu, Miyamoto Musashi's two-sword style and Kagéryu, one of the last surviving styles of the Japanese long sword.

We offer training in all four of the martial arts we practice to students ages 13 to adult.
